Oakville Humane society Walk-a-thon and craft show!

Well who would have thought this would be my most successful venture this year? Certainly not me!! When I was approached by my greatest, dearest, most wonderful friend Stephanie about having a booth at the 'critters gone country' event I didn't think my jewellery would really fit in with the doggie biscuits and super high tech flea collars. But I thought the worst that could happen is I get to see a bunch of cute animals and at least get some cool treats for my doggies.
The response to my booth was awesome!! (Can you tell I'm still feeling the sellers high?) I think the fact that I was one of the few booths selling something more 'owner friendly' was actually a boost.
My biggest selling group was my vintage necklaces. I now have to go hunting for more old pocket watches as I sold both of those pieces, it was a bit bittersweet as I love them so much.
The other booths there were pretty cool, there was a cartoonist, a pyshic, lots of doggie collar specialists but I was so busy I didnt get to do much shopping. It didn't help that my 'better' half spent any time he wasn't giving me washroom breaks...fishing.

My full day thrift shopping or thrift 'hunting' was very successful!! I found a gorgeous pair of earrings I am hoping to re-work into necklaces and a big bold Gold pendant that needs a little vamping as well. I also managed to score a vintage apron (for all the cooking i'll be doing on my time off....wishful thinking) tons of baby hats, bibs and socks and of course a cute shirt or two for once I can fit anything over my belly.

I'm starting the fourth session of my glass fusing workshop so keep your eyes open for new glass fused pieces shortly, once I get that drummel out I should have some put together. That thing still scares me. lol

I'm going to be posting pictures of new vintage and glass fused pieces as well as hopfully a pic or two from the show so check back!!

Elmira Market

Had the first Saturday at the Elimra Indoor Market. It was small, but I can see great potential! I am looking forward to seeing what happens during the first winter (it started in May) when the outdoor Market isn't operating. I think this little market can be a big thing. I think what it needs is a crafter/ Artisian boost!

On another note I just went to my frist drumming circle in Victora Park tonight. It was really small due to the weather, but was still pretty cool...I was hoping it might get Baby Connell moving, getting this started but he seems to be pretty content staying another few weeks in there. 4 weeks to go!!

****Anyone in the area, Saturday October 10th please come out to the Elmira Indoor Market to check out Loriea Moon Designs from 8 till 1!*****

New rings and big plans

I've been working on my line of rings, expanding from having only 6 to close to 20 in preperation for the Elimra Market. I have just put a few new ones into my online shop @ http://www.lorieamoondesigns.com/ and http://www.lorieamoondesigns.etsy.com/. This one here is my favourite new ring, the Nahla Design. I did a two-tier design with blues, browns and blacks. This ring is made with czech glass and gorgeous tigers eye roundelles.

tiger's eye is a very popular stone for its beauty, but it is also a luck stone. This stone is believed to help protect the wearer from evil and also bring good fortune.
Whatever you believe you can be sure that this ring looks awesome with any outfit.
I am so lucky, I am 34 weeks pregnant right now, so just this week i've started only working my 'regular' job parttime. :) I am planning on using this new free time to my advantage, hopefully i'll have the energy to clean my arse off in the house, but I am also planning a few exciting shopping trips . :) Im hoping to pack my car full of a few good girlfriends and hit up every thrift store and vintage shop in the area in search of some awesome treasures. Great vintage pieces should be coming my way from the vintage fairies. wish me luck!

BACK ALLEY ART FAIR!

The back alley art fair at the Kava Bean Commons (http://www.kavabeancommons.com/) went super awesome. There was so many gorgeous paintings and all different medias of art. Loriea Moon Designs did good, making me a very happy camper. :) Lucky for my partner (Dustin) who would have had to deal with the aftermath of a bad show. HAHA. poor guy.
Look for Loriea Moon Designs in the next issue of SNAPPED! and at the Indoor Elmira Market on September 26th. We will hopefully see you there!

My fave glass fused piece

I just added a new necklace to my site. This necklace is made with a glass fused pendant i made. This is pretty much my new favourite piece, I love that it looks like a fairy (some think butterfly, but to each there own) in the garden. I love the idea of Faeries and personally I'm sure ive seen a few in real life.

I went on a trip to Northern Ireland this past june, a place crawling with magic and I think I ran into a few faerie hang outs. Am I crazy? Maybe....but in was a great inspration for this pendant.

On a side note...Anyone whos looking to travel should go to Northern Ireland. Not Ireland, Northern Ireland. Its not nearly as expensive as the south and it has the most beautiful coast line I've ever seen. The history is rich and incredibly interesting...and don't forget about the Faeries.

first time!

Well! Welcome to my Blog! I am starting this as an add on to my store, a something for when I'm a famous jewellery designer my legions of fans can follow my every move. So without further ADO.....! My name is Caitlin and for the past 4 years I have been designing jewellery. I started in College looking for a way to make inexpensive christmas gifts, turns out it wasnt actually that inexpensive and would have been cheaper to buy everyone socks or the usual DVD. But i fell in love. I've gone from making jewellery at my residence room table and all over my family room at my parents house to having my own studio room in my basement. That room is a huge organized mess with beads, gems and knick knacks in every corner. I can't work in an area thats not at least a little messy, and how can i be focusing on my art if I'm cleaning all the time...I'd never know where anything is!

I've also gone from selling my art (necklaces, earrings and bracelets) on the sidewalks to taking part in craft shows (Big and small) and soon having a booth at a indoor market. Making in the artisan business is tough work and you have to be really focused and really believe in yourself and your product, even if it feels like no one else is behind you.

Enough about my crafts, a little about me! I live in Kitchener On, and I love it. I rent a house with a big backyard, which is a great place for my two dogs. My family consists of a Bulldog, A Min-pin/ chi X a turtle a hubby and in 2 months a baby! Its a busy house! I love to garden, right now I am growing sunflowers, tomatos, basil, sage and honeydew melons. The melons are an experiment gone right....so far. I read ALOT right now i am reading 'The secret life of bees' and if you havent read it, I suggest you do.

Well I am new to blogging, and I usually hate the computer so I'm really trying to put myself out there with this whole thing, its quite a stretch! In a few months I'll probably breeze through a post and be on here every day :)

For a look at my pieces and one of a kind designs check out http://www.lorieamoondesigns.com/ or http://www.lorieamoondesigns.etsy.com/

on these sites you will find glass fused pieces, vintage and designs with semi precious stones.

My pieces are as unique and coulourful as my world.
